EXETER City dropped to tenth in the League Two table as they lost 4-0 away at Chesterfield in a disappointing end to their season. Having lost 1-0 to Cheltenham at home the previous weekend, City went into the match with nothing to play for having narrowly missed out on the play-offs. As a result manager Paul Tisdale rang the changes, giving Anton Rodgers his first full debut for the club and starting Aaron Dawson at right back. With central defender Pat Baldwin out injured, Jordan Moore-Taylor also kept his starting place alongside Danny Coles and Alan Gow partnered youngster Jamie Reid up front. City started reasonably well, with Gow firing wide and Scot Bennett going close to opening on 20 minutes. But from then on the home side took control. Jay O'Shea cut in from the left and fired a shot into the top right hand corner on 22 minutes and moments later Marc Richards continued his good goalscoring form by heading in number two. Jack Lester, playing his last game for the club, then won a soft penalty and was given the opportunity to convert from 12 yards to mark the end of a memorable five years at Chesterfield A couple of Gow free-kicks did cause problems towards the end of the half. Bennett headed one in, only to be denied by the offside flag, and then Richard O'Donnell had to turn another around the post. Gow then wasted a good chance early in the second half, before Lester capped off a an excellent performance by getting his second of the day - prodding home from close range. City created little after that, with Bennett, playing in a more advanced role, the only player to test O'Donnell. In all fairness the outcome of the match was concluded long before the final whistle. Elsewhere in League Two though it went to the wire as Barnet conceded two late goals at Northampton. And that, coupled with Wimbledon's 2-1 win at home to Northampton, saw them relegated, along with Aldershot, to the Conference. Elsewhere Rotherham secured the third automatic promotion spot with a 2-0 win over Aldershot. Plymouth didn't manage to get the result they needed to be secure of safety, losing 1-0 at Rochdale, but it didn't matter as other results went for them. Full results as follows: Accrington 0 Oxford Utd 3, Wimbledon 2 Fleetwood 1, Burton Albion 3 Gillingham 2, Cheltenham 0 Bradford 0, Chesterfield 4 Exeter 0, Dag & Red 0 York 1, Northampton 2 Barnet 0, Rochdale 1 Plymouth 0, Rotherham 2 Aldershot 0, Southend 0 Morecambe 1, Torquay 3 Bristol Rovers 3, Wycombe 1 Port Vale 1.
