R&B veterans The Blues Band will appear at Exeter Corn Exchange on Saturday, May 11.

The band was formed in 1979 by ex-Manfred Mann group members Paul Jones and Tom McGuinness, originally to play a few pub gigs.

Slide guitar ace and vocalist Dave Kelly was later recruited, while Gary Fletcher filled the bass post, and Rob Townsend, of Family fame, replaced Hughie Flint on drums in 1982.

The band is today acknowledged throughout Europe and beyond as being among the finest purveyors of rhythm & blues. They have inspired numerous others, many having come and gone while The Blues Band has remained a constant, increasingly popular.

Their new studio album Few Short Lines, released on Repertoire Records, is collecting rave reviews. Expect a good selection from the album in the show.

Tickets (£18) are available from the venue on 01392 665938. No booking fee or postage is charged for telephone bookings. Tickets can also be bought online at www.exeter.gov.uk/cornexchange
