A 68-year-old female suffering from hypothermia was rescued from Dartmoor by a Police helicopter on Thursday morning.
The Challacombe woman was evacuated after breaking her femur in the early hours of Thursday 6th December.
Police said the condition was deemed to be time critical by paramedics who couldn't safely transport her quickly to the hospital due to icy conditions on the rural roads.
The helicopter was able to land nearby and transport the woman and a paramedic directly to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, reducing a journey of over an hour to ten minutes.
