A PHOTOGRAPH printed in the Gazette has brought back memories for several relatives.
The picture (July 23, p29) showed a group of men at the Tiverton Showground in the 1950s outside the horticultural tent.
A former Tiverton resident, who moved from the town but still reads the newspaper, identified a few of the men because one of them was her father.
Lorna Jepps, 85, spotted Samuel Woolway, fifth from the left. He was a gardener and his wife was a police officer.
Mrs Jepps, who went to Wilcombe School, also recognised Mr Bradford, who was the head gardener at Knightshayes and Bob Coles, who lived on a farm at Rackenford.
She said: "I know the faces of the others and they were friends for years and I know that they did a lot of judging for the show."
Another person that was recognised was Mr Bill Hagley.
His daughter, Patricia May said: "He was on the show committee for the vegetable and flower tent and a councillor at the time."
Mrs May, retired, has moved to Exmouth but volunteers at Coldharbour Mill in Uffculme.
Gwen Beele, 72, said her uncle, George Kingdom, was also fourth from the left.
