Police are appealing for information to catch burglars who broke into a garden centre in Exmouth.
Between 10pm on Sunday and 3am on Monday the offenders attempted to steal items from Kings Garden and Leisure in Hulham Road in the town.
PC Adam Johnson, who is investigating the incident, said: "We are asking if anyone heard or saw anything suspicious in the area to contact us.
"The offenders were disturbed by a member of the public so left without being able to take anything.
"By the time police arrived they had fled the scene and the vehicle they were travelling, a silver Ford Focus that was stolen earlier in the evening, was found crashed near Venn Ottery."
Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference number KE122828.
On the same night there was a break in at the Sidmouth recycling centre. Police said they wanted to hear from anyone who had seen anything suspicious in that area between 4.30pm on Sunday and 7.45am on Monday.
