EXMOUTH HARRIERS
EXMOUTH Harriers' male veterans team won their age category at the Armada Relay at Central Park in Plymouth.
The over-60s quartet of Steve Merry, Phil Bater, Dave Eveleigh and Nigel Dupain finished the four 2.5-mile legs in a total time of 1hr 27mins 39secs to finish 39th overall out of 48 teams and first in their age category.
Cathy Newman set one of the fastest female times for the senior women's race of 15.18 as the Harriers team finished third and 27th overall in a time of 1:10.53.
New member Sarah Jackman (18.12), Lisa Hatchard (19.04) and Carly Miller (18.22) also collected bronze medals.
The senior men were fourth overall but were the second team from a club as first and second went to scratch teams.
Berihu Tesfay ran the fastest time of the day (12.39) on the final leg, but they still finished 25 seconds behind third-placed Torbay AC.
Tony Hatchard (13.28), Adam Miller (13.57) and Mark Cox (14.30) also contributed for a total time of 54.34.
In the Exeter Half Marathon, four Exmouth Harriers were among the 251 finishers, with Chris Dupain the first in 1:34.06 for 45th overall.
Sister Hannah Bown was 72nd overall in 1:38.50, Dan Morley was 58th in a new personal best of 1:36.45, while over-70 veteran Les Turner managed 2:13.05 for 208th.
SOUTH WEST ROAD RUNNERS
Two South West Road Runners won their age categories at the Exeter Half Marathon on Sunday.
They were among 13 members of the city-based club to take part in the three-lap race around the canal basin.
Tim Vialls was the first member of the club to cross the finish line in 1:23.05, coming home 11th overall and first male over-50. Barry Frost was 34th overall in 1:30.44, which won him the male over-55 prize.
Other SWRR finishers were: Jim Durston 36th in 1:31.01, Jon Major 68th in 1:38.16, Nicola Davies 78th in 1:38.25, Elizabeth Nuttall 75th in 1:39.24, Amanda Perry 87th in 1:41.06, James Robson 94th in 1:42.36, Lee Rowe 105th in 1:43.38, Graham Partridge 108th in 1:44.19, Ciaran Brennan 127th in 1:48.31, Emma Jones 128th in 1:48.35 and Caroline Gentry 130th in 1:49.17
AXE VALLEY RUNNERS
Emma Kiernan was the first AVR home and 65th overall in the Exeter Half Marathon on Sunday.
She completed the flat three-lap race on footpaths and cycle tracks around the Exeter Canal Basin in 1:37.44, closely followed by Adele Foxwell (76th) in a new PB of 1:39.33.
Chris Polly was 140th in 1:51.48, Bethany Sibley 188th in 2:06.08 and mum Amie Sibley 229th in 2:26.12.
The week before it was an Axe Valley Runners one-two at last week's Four Trigs, with Patrick Devine-Wright winning it and Tim Lenton coming second. Devine-Wright completed the tough 17-mile course around the Lower Sid Valley in 2:20, three minutes ahead of Lenton.
James Jackson was fifth in 2:37 and James Green seventh in 2:46.
Other AVR finishers were: Lin Lascelles 13th in 2:53, James Trewick and Alex Todd finished in 2:53, Martin Lascelles 20th in 2:58, Jon Day 25th in 3:02, Eleanor Wood, Simon Bayliss, Matt Clist and Garry Perratt finished together 33rd in 3:17, Steven Lewis 59th in 3:33 and Team Tubbs, made up of Jess, Sue and Neil, came 74th in 4:10.
HALDON TRAIL RUNNERS
Jan Dolezel raced in the Exeter Half Marathon on Sunday on a three-lap course around the city's canal basin. He crossed the line in 20th place in 1:25.38.
EXETER HARRIERS
Miranda Hardacre won bronze in the 400m at the Welsh Under-20 Indoor Championships at Cardiff.
Hardacre easily won her heat in a time of 59.52secs, clocking 59.05secs in the final.
