Hundreds of runners will take part in the Age UK Exeter 10k Run on Sunday morning.
The event, sponsored by a number of local businesses including estate agent Wilkinson Grant, has attracted a huge entry.
The race starts at 9.30am in Princesshay and takes runners through Southernhay, down Western Way and on to the Exeter Quayside.
There is then a flat stretch along the river and canal finishing at the Piazza Terracina on the Quay.
The race has been designed to suit regular and experienced runners as well as beginners and fun runners due to the relatively flat terrain.
Around 100 volunteers have also been recruited to help with the organisation of the event, which raises funds for Age Concern UK Exeter.
