Representatives of local charities visited the Southernhay offices of Wilkinson Grant & Co to receive money raised as part of the agency's 2012 charity initiative.
Guests enjoyed mince pies and mulled wine before agency principal Roger Wilkinson presented cheques for £400 each to the St Loye's Foundation, Force Cancer Charity, Stop Abuse for Everyone, Exeter Community Initiatives, Headway Devon, Hospiscare, Dream-A-Way, Open Arms and Exeter Leukaemia Fund.
"This is the second year of our charities initiative and we are very pleased to have forged closer links with many local causes and had the opportunity to learn more of the valuable work they all do – some almost unnoticed and unrecognised – and all contributing greatly to the well-being of the local community," said Roger.
"Each year our staff choose a number of local charities to support and each month we help one, actively advertising and promoting their work, donating payroll hours, helping with fund raising, brainstorming ideas and effecting introductions to help them sustain and develop their particular charity. As an added benefit, we are very pleased to make a donation to each to help fund specific initiatives."
Jeff Merrett, of Dream-A-Way, said: "We are delighted to receive our cheque at this time of year, which will help us take a party of 50 people with disabilities and their families to a festive pantomime between Christmas and New Year – a real chance for them to enjoy something extra and put more smiles on more faces."
