Former Exeter City manager and Reading coach Eamonn Dolan is in the running to become the next Leeds United boss.
Dolan, who was Exeter City manager during the 2003/04 campaign, was on Friday evening 3/1 with Sky Bet to take over at Elland Road from former Grecians’ player Brian McDermott, who left Leeds United by 'mutual consent' six days ago.
It is thought new Leeds United chairman Massimo Cellino is keen to hire a coach to work under a director of football at the club and that was one of the reasons behind McDermott's departure.
During his time at Exeter City, Dolan worked alongside the club's current director of football Steve Perryman.
He had a successful 2003/04 season in charge of the Grecians, steadying the ship after a difficult year, and almost qualifying for the playoffs. However, he left the club in September 2004 to join Reading as academy manager.
He also had a spell as caretaker manager of Reading, taking over after Brian McDermott was sacked from the Royals in March 2013.
Dolan faces strong competition for the hot seat at Elland Road.
It is thought Cellino is set to interview three British managers for the position with former Leeds United boss and Elland Road midfielder Gary McAllister the current favourite for the job at 6/4.
Other British managers in the frame include former Forest Green Rovers boss Dave Hockaday (7/2), ex-Norwich City manager Chris Hughton (13/2) and Neil Redfearn (12/1).
