VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help run a tourist information service from a beach hut in the Strand.
The facility will return to Exmouth on Monday, June 30, and be open Monday to Saturday, from 10am until 4pm.
A nine-strong contingent of volunteers has already been recruited ahead of opening day, but around six more are needed to join the team. Anyone with an interest in local tourism is urged to get in touch and full training will be given.
Last month members of the town council's finance committee backed a £3,500 budget for its provision. The Town Team has pledged £1,500 to the venture, which the Chamber of Commerce is supporting logistically, but is not helping to fund.
Chairman Ian MacQueen, said: "Having a vibrant tourist industry doesn't just benefit businesses but a town as a whole – a ghost town isn't good for anyone.
"Exmouth is Devon's largest town and it's been an embarrassment not to have a facility. There is a huge demand for it."
