Frank Hale, 48, of Morton Road, Exmouth, was given a suspended prison sentence after being found guilty of stealing a wallet containing £100 in cash on October 25, 2013, in Exmouth. He was given a custodial sentence because the victim was deemed "vulnerable" and he had a previous history of offending. Mr Hale was committed to prison for 26 weeks suspended for 12 months and fined a total of £180. He was also put under curfew for three months from June 19 to September 19, during which he was told to remain at his home between the hours of 7pm and 7am.
Kevin West, 44, of Exe Street, Exeter, admitted stealing seven bottles of spirit to the value of £164.16 belonging to Waitrose in Exeter on May 25. He was fined £90 and given a community order involving a requirement to complete an "alcohol specified" activity for 12 days.
Christopher Ward, 40, of Lockfield Court, Alphington, Exeter, was given a suspended prison sentence after admitting driving a car in the city while over the prescribed drink-drive limit. He pleaded guilty to driving the Audi vehicle on Cowick Lane, Exeter, on May 9 after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion in his breath, namely 130 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit. He was committed to prison for 18 weeks, suspended for 12 months, because of the "very high" reading and his previous convictions. Mr Ward was told to complete an "alcohol specified" activity for 12 days and carry out 200 hours of unpaid work over 12 months. He was also disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for three years, reduced by 36 weeks subject to the completion of a course. Mr Ward was also fined £165.
Paul Sowden, 41, of Kinnerton Way, Exeter, committed two offences of fraud in Exeter. He failed to disclose between December 2, 2011, and October 14, 2013, that he was working when claiming housing benefit and council tax benefit. Mr Sowden was given a community order to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work within a period of 12 months. He was also fined £85.
Gary Burrow, 57, of Liverton Close, Exmouth, was fined £17.99 after stealing a bottle of red wine on May 10 in Exmouth and a bottle of ale on March 20.
Shane Smith, 33, of Mincinglake Road, Exeter, was found guilty of assaulting a man in Tiverton on August 17, 2013. He was fined a total of £745.
Adrian Irimescu, 29, of Archibold Road, Exeter, admitted a charge of drink-driving. On March 22 he drove a Seat Ibiza on St Anne's Road, Exeter after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion in his breath, namely 101 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit. He was given 10 points on his license and was fined £15. Mr Irimescu was granted mitigating circumstances because of the shortness of distance travelled, the manner of driving as the defendant rolled into a car in front from parked position, and the "lack of danger" to road users.
Robert Sheen, 29, of St Paul's Square, Tiverton was banned from driving after admitting an offence of drink-driving. On January 25 he drove a Peugeot van on the B3227 Bampton to Shillingford Road after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion in his breath, namely 73 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit. Mr Sheen was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving license for 17 months, reduced by 17 weeks subject to the completion of a driving course. He was also fined £525. Following a separate offence of failing to provide the police with information relating to the identity of a driver, Mr Sheen was banned from driving for another six months and had his licence endorsed with six penalty points. He was also fined £85.
Adam Smart, 26, of Claremont Grove, Exmouth, was fined £15 after admitting damaging a fruit machine of an unknown value belonging to DP Leisure on May 17 Lowestoft, Suffolk.
Miriam Vecino, 28, of Burnthouse Lane, Exeter, was fined £15 after committing two offences of theft in the city centre. On May 28 she stole various items including plasters, shampoo, a shower cap and hand cream to the value of £80.43 belonging to Boots High Street, Exeter. On May 28 she also stole a scooter to the value of £69.99 belonging to This Is It, High Street, Exeter.
Kerry Dunn, 23 of Hope Road, Exeter, was banned from driving after committing an offence of drink-driving. On June 9 she drove a Vauxhall Corsa on Market Street, Exeter after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion in her breath, namely 72 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit. She was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 16 months, reduced by 16 weeks subject to the completion of a driving course. Ms Dunn was also fined a total of £305.
Marie Tutty, 54, of Pippin Close, Exeter was fined £100 after committing an offence of stealing a pair of jeans to the value of £54 from Hollister , Princesshay, Exeter on March 31.
Rhys Bragg, 24, of Prospect Place, Sidmouth was banned from driving after admitting an offence of drink-driving. On June 9 he drove a Vauxhall Corsa on the A3052 near the Cat & Fiddle after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion in his breath, namely 54 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit. He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 12 months, reduced by three months subject to the completion of a driving course. Mr Bragg was also fined £525.
Amanda Godfrey, 33, of Monitor Close, Exeter was fined £255 after admitting driving a Peugeot car on Cowick Street, Exeter on February 25 without due care and attention.
Lathan Lashbrook, 26, of Little Barley, Exeter was fined £185 after admitting a charge of being disorderly while drunk in a public place, namely Mary Arches Street, Exeter on June 7.
Adam Lawson, 30, of Mallison Close, Exeter was fined £235 after being found in possession of cocaine and behaving in a threatening or abusive way in Exeter on March 22.
