FORMER Exeter City footballer James Coppinger has been given a three year ban from involvement in racing after being found to be in breach of the Rules of Racing.
Coppinger, who was a tricky winger who scored 13 goals in 82 appearances for the Grecians in a successful spell between 2002 and 2004, currently plays for Doncaster Rovers.
He was found guilty of corrupt and fraudulent practices following the outcome of a British Horseracing authority investigation into alleged corruption.
Ipswich striker Chopra and former England International Mark Wilson were also found in breach of committing corrupt and fraudulent practices and offering a bribe.
At the centre of the investigation were charges relating to former Flat jockey Andrew Heffernan, who was found in breach of all charges brought against him by a BHA disciplinary panel.
The allegations centred on horses being laid to lose on betting exchanges in races that took place between November 1, 2010 and March 31, 2011. They related to Heffernan's riding of three horses - Wanchai Whisper, Gallantry and Silver Guest.
Five other individuals - Paul Garner, Yogesh Joshee, Douglas Shelley, Kelly Inglis and Pravin Shingardia - were also found in breach.
