Rob Paxton safely made it through to the second round of the Co-operative Funeralcare International Open at Blackpool on Sunday.
The Exonia player beat qualifier Ross Owen 10-2, 8-4 in his opening match.
Owen hit the headlines last year when he knocked out defending champion Paul Foster in the first round of the World indoor singles. However, 10th seed Paxton made sure there would be no giant killing this time around as he quickly asserted his authority.
Paxton will face either Mark Royal or qualifier Scott Kennedy in the second round. The pair are due to meet at 1.30pm on Monday.
