Chris Addison – The Time Is Now, Again.
Exeter Northcott
Chris Addison, it is fair to say, is probably better known for his TV appearances than for his day job.
Although no one would deny his impeccable comedy credentials – and Chris despite his youthful appearance (he is actually 41) had been working in the comedy world for longer than you might think – it is safe to say Chris is better known for his appearances on the panel show Mock The Week and for his role as Ollie in the long running satirical sitcom The Thick of It than he is for his actual on stage joke telling.
Fortunately, while not a hugely memorable show, Chris certainly entertained the packed house at the Northcott this Sunday. Tackling such hot topics as advertising and Coalition politics, Chris is a consistently likeable performer and won the audience over even when his material perhaps erred too much towards safer territory.
Ultimately, though, this was an enjoyable night and even with The Thick of It now apparently in the past, Chris Addison seems sure to continue his slow but relentless rise towards the top of the comedy tree in the future.
