Exeter residents call for more speed restrictions in St Davids

Residents in St Davids in Exeter are calling for further restrictions to curb speeding motorists in the area. Not satisfied with their existing 20MPH speed zone, which does not cover the whole length of St David's Hill, the committee of the St David's Neighbourhood Partnership has applied to the county council to have the area covered by the zone extended. A zone would have physical contraints, such as speed humps, to enforce the speed, an area which just has a speed limit has not such constraints. The existing zone currently excludes much of St David's neighbourhood. The committee wants the zone to include the whole length of St David's Hill, Richmond Road, Queen's Terrace, Bystock Terrace, and the access road to Jubilee Court from the Clock Tower. Committee member Christine Fraser said: "If approved, there will be an opportunity for the neighbourhood to design part of the sign boards."
