Storm-chasers have gathered at coastal locations across the Westcountry in pursuit of the perfect picture.
At the famous Cobb in Lyme Regis, hundreds lined up to try and capture images of giant waves crashing over the harbour wall.
In other parts of the Westcountry, storm-chaser were more of a nuisance, causing gridlock in the pretty harbourside village of Porthleven, Cornwall, and forcing police to close roads. Police were also forced to take action on the north coast at Gwithian, where the Red Bull Storm Chase event was taking place.
Billed as the "most challenging windsurfing contest of all time" the competition drew hundreds of people despite police warnings to stay away from the coastline.
Paul Masters, duty director at Cornwall Council's Silver Control emergency response centre, said people were putting themselves and others in danger by ignoring safety advice.
"There's no reason people shouldn't see the spectacle of nature," he said.
"But we are saying 'please keep yourself safe' and do it from a safe location.
"We are saying don't put yourself and other people, from the emergency services, who will be involved, in a rescue, in danger."
