An Exeter man has appeared in court charged with possessing a 27 inch sword at the city's main hospital.
David Elliott did not enter a plea to the charge of possessing the offensive weapon in public.
Exeter magistrates court heard the 44 year old, of Geneva Close, Exeter, is alleged to have had the sword at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital one afternoon in January.
He was bailed and he will next appear before a judge at Exeter Crown Court next month.
