Southernhay House hotel has become one of the first hotels in the area of Exeter to secure inclusion in trailblazing new website The Gay Wedding Guide.
Launched to coincide with the Same-Sex Couples Act coming into play in the UK on the 29th March, The Gay Wedding Guide will provide a one-stop shop of venues around the UK who welcome same sex couple's ceremonies.
With insight into the UK's most exclusive 'gay friendly' venues and brimming with editorial content from some of the best known figures across the weddings, luxury, food and travel industries, the Hotel joins some of the most exclusive luxury wedding destinations in the UK to be featured.

"Since Civil Partnerships have been recognised in the UK, Burgh Island and Southernhay House have been at the forefront of same sex unions. Sexual orientation is of no consequence to us; the celebration of two people in a long and happy union is our fabulous goal. We would always support celebrations for same sex couples and it is without question this must include marriage as well as civil unions. We welcome the change in law."
Founded by former hospitality worker Kate Lovell in 2013, The Gay Wedding Guide followed the launch of Les Deux Messieurs - an online resource which review hotels from a gay perspective.
Appalled at the treatment a number of her discerning gay friends were experiencing from some hoteliers based purely on their wish to share a room with their same sex partner, she responded with the launch of the LGBT community's answer to Mr & Mrs Smith, which evolved naturally into the formation of The Gay Wedding Guide, timed perfectly to support the change in UK law later this month.
The latest statistics reveal that in 2012 a total of 7,037 civil partnerships were formed in the UK, which was an increase of 3.6% since 2011.
