NEXT up for the big part-night light switch-off are St Thomas and Exwick.
Part-night lighting will begin in these two wards on May 1.
Local councillor, Rob Hannaford, has always spoken up against the switch-off and told The Echo: "It's a shame that the county council intends to press ahead with the controversial plans to turn local street lights off every night. Lights will remain on along some limited walk-home routes such as Buller Road and Cowick Street.
"I have consistently spoke and voted against these proposals over the past four years.
"The county council has been determined to plunge Exeter back into the dark ages by turning off at least 10,000 of the city's 12,000 street lights at night.
"The only time residents contact me about street lights is to report when they are not working, or if they would like more put into areas to make them safer, and virtually no one seems to support these daft curfew measures for Exeter."
Cllr Hannaford added: "Exeter is a thriving growing city with a 24/7 economy, so comparing us with rural areas is ridiculous."
There is a consultation running for six months on the effect of switching the street lights off in Exeter.

Alphington and Cowick were switched off between 12.30am and 5.30am from April 1 and local councillor Roy Hill tells Community News that several concerns have been raised with him by residents.
Cllr Hill said: "The main concerns are people feel the streets are too dark and are asking 'can't we keep one light on?'
"It is the total blackness that is bothering them."
