Controversial Exeter defender Danny Coles is set for a move to Forest Green Rovers.
The transfer-listed defender has been spotted watching the team at their friendly with Arsenal's U21 team tonight.
Yesterday it was reported Forest Green boss Ady Pennock was on the verge of signing a new central-defender just days before the new Vanarama Conference Premier kick-off.
"I have a few irons in the fire and hope to have someone in," Pennock told Stoudnewsjournal.co.uk.
Coles, who was placed on the transfer list in July, looks like the most likely candidate for the move.
The 32-year-old was placed on the transfer list and stripped of his captaincy following a disciplinary hearing into comments he made on social media.
Coles, who has been club captain for the past two seasons, got into trouble in June when he sent an abusive tweet to a 14-year-old supporter who had mocked his performances for City.
The club has conducted an internal investigation into the matter and following a disciplinary hearing made the decision to remove Coles as club captain, place him on the transfer list and fine him two weeks' wages.
The Echo understands the move to the Gloucestershire side will be made over the next 24hours.
