Boateng to Barcelona? Barcelona's move to strengthen their defence has led to the targeting of Bayern Munich's Jerome Boateng, according to reports.The World Cup winner is favourite to partner Gerard Pique during Luis Enrique's debut season, Rafa Sahuquillo ofMarca report. However Bayern boss Pep Guardiola has attempted to quash the rumours by saying Boateng will be at the club next season. "I do not know what the media say, I only know that Jerome Boateng will be a Bayern player next season, 100 per cent," said the manager.
Dani Alves to Liverpool? Liverpool's search for defensive reinforcements looks set to continue, with the club reportedly favourites to sign Dani Alves from Barcelona after Inter Milan dismissed links with the Brazil full-back.
Brendan Rodgers is having to put a larger squad together this season after Liverpool's qualification for the Champions League, so a player of Alves' quality and experience would be an obvious addition.
After being dropped by Brazil during the World Cup in favour of Maicon, Alves seems to be coming to the end of an illustrious career, with reports of him being close to a deal at Inter Milan dismissed by his representatives.
The player's agent told Calciomercato: "We have not had any contact with Inter. They are a big club but we don't know anything about it. There has been no contact with them so for us it is difficult to comment."
Cuadrado to Man U? Van Gaal has his hinted Manchester United are trying to sign Fiorentina star Juan Cuadrado. Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona are believed to be after Cuadrado but has been named on the top of Van Gaal's list. However, Barcelona are also keen on landing the £30million-rated man, but will have to offload Inter Milan and Paris St-Germain target Dani Alves before a bid can be made. Speaking in the wake of United's 3-1 Champions Cup victory over Liverpool, Van Gaal admitted he was reluctant to talk about Cuadrado as it would result in Fiorentina demanding a higher price for his services. Talking to journalists he said: "I cannot talk about Cuadrado, because if I say something about him the price will rise."
